Pakistan ‘A’ take first innings lead over Sri Lanka ‘A’

Vishwa Fernando took four wickets for Sri Lanka ‘A


The second day of the first unofficial Test between Sri Lanka ‘A’ and Pakistan ‘A’ was worked off yesterday at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.  

The hosts resumed their first innings on Day 2 at 66 for two and went on to post 258 runs before the tea break. Hussain Talat (56) and Rohail Nazir (55) struck fine half centuries for Pakistan ‘A’. 

Left-arm seamer Vishwa Fernando was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors as he grabbed four wickets for 44 runs. Fernando’s partners in the pace attack – Isitha Wijesundara and Nisala Tharaka also snared two wickets each.  

Sri Lanka ‘A’ began their second innings 143 runs behind and added 77 runs for one wicket before the close of play on Day 2. 

Ahan Wickramasinghe (48 n.o) and Nipun Dhananjaya (23 n.o) added 77 runs for the unfinished second wicket and remained unbeaten at the crease.
