The 2023 Inter-School Athletic Relay Carnival is being sponsored for the first time by CBL Foods International (Pvt) Ltd.
The Srilanka Schools Athletics Association has made arrangements to hold the 'Ritzbury' Sri Lanka Schools Athletics Relay Carnival on June 24, 25 and 26 at the Sugathadasa Stadium Colombo, CBL Foods International's General Manager Nilupul de Silva said at a Press Conference held at the Taj Samudra Hotel Tuesday (20).
Ritzbury has been sponsoring the Sir John Tarbat Senior and Junior Athletic Championship, which are considered two of the most important school athletic tournaments in the Sri Lankan school athletic calendar, and this is the first time that Relay Carnival is being sponsored.
The Ministry of Education and Sri Lanka Schools Athletics Association (SLSAA) is jointly organizing the Schools Relay Carnival 2023.
The five age groups in the Relay Carnival are Under 12, U-14, U-16, U-18 and U-20 Boys and Girls.
Some 4,000 athletes from 200 schools have entered this competition.
Meanwhile, according to the 2023 tournament calendar prepared by SLSAA, the Ministry of Education has approved holding the 91st Sir John Tarbat Senior Athletics Championship from September 13 to 16 at Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo and the 52nd Junior Tarbat Athletic Championship from November 3 to 5 at Mahinda Rajapaksa Sports Complex.
