The Sri Lanka cricket legends team led by T.M. Dilshan that performed exceptionally at the Road Safety World Series which concluded earlier this month, are set to return to action around the next edition of Lankan Premier League (LPL), according to Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa.
Contrary to reports that an exhibition match between Sri Lanka legends and the current national team could be organized in April, the Sports Minister said; “The match will probably be played before or soon after LPL although we haven’t really finalized exact dates.”
The participation of a number of senior players including T.M. Dilshan, Chinthaka Jayasinghe and Kaushalya Weeraratne who are involved in club cricket abroad will be doubtful.
“Of course it is a challenge, but I think it is our responsibility to make sure we work extremely hard to get them to participate in this because we all witnessed how they brought the whole country together during the Road Safety World Series for which I have my utmost respect for them,” said the Minister.
