Sixteen teams battle for C Tag Rugby Sevens Title

The past students of brothers and sisters from 16 schools will converge again to battle it out for the C Tag Rugby 7’s title scheduled to be played on September 16 (Saturday) at Longdon Place with the kick-off slotted set from 1.00 p.m. onwards which will go on till late night.

The 16 brother/sister schools battling for honours will see 44 matches being worked out including exhibition matches planned to be played in between.

The finals are scheduled to be played from 7.30 p.m. starting with the Plate segment.

With each team allowed two players above the age category of over -25, three players above 35 years of age and two female players from sister schools of the boy’s teams, the mix ensures that players from different eras come together.

The combination teams that will be in action are Royal College/Visakha Vidyalaya, Isipathana College/St. Pauls Milagiriya, St. Joseph’s College/St. Bridget’s Convent, Kingswood College/Girls High School, Wesley College/St. Methodist College, DSS/Sirimavo BV, Ananda College/Musaeus College, Trinity College/Hillwood and Ladies, S. Thomas’ College/Bishop’s College, St. Anthony’s College/Good Shepherd Convent Kandy, St. Sylvester’s College/St. Anthony’s Girls School, Dharmaraja College/Mahamaya Girls’ School, St. Benedict’s College/Good Shepherd Convent Colombo, Vidyartha College/Pushpadana Girls School, St. Peter’s College/Holy Family Convent Bambalapitiya and Thurstan College/Ratnavalie BV.

Last year the combination of Dharmaraja/Mahamaya clinched the Cup title while Trinity/Hillwood bagged the Plate title and St. Benedict’s/Good Shepherd Convent winning the bowl title.

Apart from the tournament it’s going to be of carnival atmosphere and fun filled as the organizers have made arrangements for those coming to witness to enjoy the day along with music provided by popular local bands and street food stalls will also be there to enjoy a hearty meal and not forgetting the kids who can enjoy in the children’s playing area.
