Expolanka meet Fairfirst Insurance in the Mercantile football knock-out final
Expolanka Holdings will meet Fairfirst Insurance in the Mercantile Football Association (MFA) Knock-Out Tournament 2022 Final tomorrow at the City League Grounds, Slave Island, Colombo 2, commencing 3:00 p.m.
Earlier on, Expolanka Holdings won the MFA League Division One title while Fairfirst Insurance won the MFA League Division Two title.
Prior to the final, HNB will meet Ceylinco General Insurance in the play-off for the third place, at 2:00 p.m.
The semi-finals were played on January (17) and (18) the City League Grounds. (BM)
Bankers to stage inaugural Netball Festival
The newly formed Bankers Club of Sri Lanka (BCSL) will conduct an inaugural Inter-Bank Netball tournament.
This event is being held to promote healthy rivalry and camaraderie among the employees of the 17 state and private banks, BCSL Secretary Gaya P Basnayake told 'Daily Mirror.'
BCSL hopes to make it an annual event if it is successful.
Entries have been called for this tournament with the closing date being February 8.
The event will be organised as a Netball Festival and conducted on a league basis at Torrington on February 26. By Susil Premalal
Trinity into quarters
The Trinity College Under 20 football outfit moved into quarter-final stage when they beat Isipathana College 5-0 in their Sri Lanka Schools Football Association conducted encounter which was worked off at Trinity College Rugby Stadium in Pallekele recently.
Trinity’s goals were scored by Yevan Hulangamuwa (2), Dev Karavita, Dinusha Peiris and Livan Vithanage.

Interviews to select netball coaches on Sunday
The Sri Lanka Netball Federation (SLNF) has decided to conduct interviews to select a national netball coach and assistant coach on Sunday (22) at Torrington.
The two coaches are being appointed ahead of the 2023 Netball World Cup to be held from July 28 to August 6 in South Africa.
Three veteran coaches are vying for the position of national coach while two have applied for the assistant coach position, said SLNF President Lakshmi Victoria.
The contenders for national coach are internationally renowned coaches Hyacinth Wijesinghe and Tilaka Jinadasa in addition to Somitha de Alwis. P.D. Prasadi while Shashikala Samarasinghe are vying for the Assistant Coach position.
Prasadi and Samarasinghe, the two applicants vying to be Assistant Coach are two former Sri Lanka captains. (SP)
