(Daily Mirror) - The Sri Lanka Amateur Ranking Golf Tournament, the last event for 2023 will take place from November 10 to 13 at the Victoria Golf Resort (VGR) in Rajawella.
There will be 24 players in this tournament, which is grouped three each with the first tee off is expected at 8.30 a.m.
The event will see some class acts such as Chanaka Perera, Reshan Algama, Kumar Danushan and Jevahn Sathasivam in action.
Algama, the youngest-ever winner of this competition in April, is aiming to secure the top spot and achieve a remarkable third victory in his brief career.
In addition to these seasoned players, junior sensation Sathasivam is expected to make a significant impact, adding an exciting dimension to the tournament after some top-class golf in Thailand and Malaysia.
The Amateur Ranking Golf Tournament, a regular fixture in the Sri Lankan golf calendar, serves as a platform for amateur golfers to showcase their skills and compete for the top honours.
The Amateur Golf Ranking Tournament takes an added significance this year as it serves as a qualifying event for the Indian Amateur Open, scheduled to take place at the Calcutta Golf Club, Kolkata, from December 11 to 17.
The 122nd Amateur Golf Championship of India will attract players from various Asian countries. With the top two from this VGR event will secure their spot while the third and fourth placed will tee off at the Malaysian Amateur Open Championship.
Nandasena Perera won this tournament in 1998 followed by Anura Rohana in the following year in Malaysia.
