Sri Lanka contingent leaves for Asian Games tomorrow

The Sri Lanka contingent will leave tomorrow (21) to China for the Hangzhou Asian Games.   


The Olympic Committee of Asia (OCA) and Chinese National Olympic Committee (NOCC) has made arrangements to host the 2022 Asian Games which was postponed because of Corona pandemic from September 23 to October 8 in Hangzhou. Sri Lanka will be represented by 97 athletes and 58 officials in 21 different sports.   


The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOCSL) has named two international level athletes Anura Rohana (Golf) and Gayanthika Abeyrathna (Athletics) as the flag-bearers of the Sri Lanka contingent.   


Golfer Anura Rohana, (50 years) represented Sri Lanka at the 2002 Busan Asian Games in addition to several amateur and professional golf tournaments.   
Gayanthika Abeyrathna, (36 years) represented Sri Lanka at the 2014 (Incheon) Asian Games, 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, World Athletic Championships and several international competitions.
