Sri Lanka’s Bovindee Jithsara qualified to play in the final of the ATF Under-16 Girls’ and Boys’ Week 1 Tennis Championship by coming out on top in the semi-final encounter played at the SLTA Courts in Green Path, Colombo yesterday.
Bovindee coasted to a comfortable two sets to nil win over Tesajvi Kotti of India and in the other semi-final, Divya Ungrish of India overcame Yuhansa Peiris of Sri Lanka also by two sets to nil.
Meanwhile, in the Boys’ category, two Sri Lankan’s Methika Wickramasinhge and Sithija Peiris won their third-round matches against Thenuka Nanayakkara of Sri Lanka and Akshath Singh of India, to book their berths to the quarter-finals. The championship will be continued today.
The ATF Tennis tournament conducted by the Asian Tennis Federation, is being hosted by the Sri Lanka Tennis Association with the participation of overseas players.

Girls’ semi-finals: Bovindee Jithsara (Sri Lanka) beat Tejasvi Kotti (India) 6-0, 6-2. Divya Ungrish (India) beat Yuhansa Peiris (Sri Lanka) 7-6, 7-5. Boys’ third round: Methika Wickremesinghe (Sri Lanka) beat Thenuka Nanayakkara (Sri Lanka) 6-0, 6-0. Sithija Peiris (Sri Lanka) beat Akshath Singh (India) 5-7, 6-2, 4-1 and retired).
