Thalduwa Buddhist Vidyalaya clinches Sabaragamuwa Province Sevens Rugby championship

Thalduwa Buddhist Vidyalaya clinched the Sabaragamuwa Province Sevens Rugby Championship for the second consecutive year this week. The team triumphed with a narrow 12-14 victory in the final against Kegalu Vidyalaya, held at the School Stadium in Kegalle.

As the defending champions, Thalduwa Buddhist Vidyalaya advanced to the semi-finals, where they defeated Ruwanwella Rajasinghe Maha Vidyalaya with a decisive 26-05. They then faced Kegalu Vidyalaya in the final round.

Led by captain Satheesha Madushantha and vice-captain Nabeel Dilshan, and coached by Shanuka Priyadarshana with assistant coach Dinesh Suranga, Thalduwa Buddhist Vidyalaya's 15-member team also won all their matches throughout the Dialog Schools ‘2’ Division (A Group) League Tournament. Maleendra Jayawardhana serves as the Master in Charge of the team. The victory solidifies their leading position in this division.
