CR and FC collected their points from one goal and one try after having led 5-3 at half time while the Havies responded with three penalties.
The home side opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a neat penalty from full back Samuel Maduwantha before Zubair Doray put the CR and FC in front with a superb try in the 20th minute.
After the break, Maduwantha provided Havelock SC with a great chance of pulling off the game when he fired across two back-to-back penalties to make it 9-5.
However, Amith Gunasinghe scored the match winning try for the CR and FC in the 69th minute and Manilka Ruberu added the extra points to increase their lead.
Meanwhile, Police SC outplayed Navy SC 37-7 in their Inter-Club League Rugby Tournament Plate Championship match played at Welisara.
The winners collected their points from two goals, four tries and one penalty after having led 20-7 at half time while Navy SC managed to score only a solitary goal. (MSA)
