S. Thomas’ College stamped their class by winning the Cup Championship of the All-Island Under-14 Elite Ten-a-Side Rugby Tournament 2024, defeating Science College 12-5 in the Cup final at the Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday.
The Thomian team was led by co-captains Tehan Dammage and Yokitha Perera, with coaching by Viranjaya Silva and Oshada Weerasekera. Zahira secured the Plate by beating St. Peter’s 14-5, while Isipathana won the Bowl, defeating two-time defending champions Wesley 17-5. Trinity took home the Shield, defeating Vidyartha.
Notably, the 2022 and 2023 champions Wesley competed in the Bowl segment, while Trinity played in the Shield match alongside Vidyartha.
Shield final: Trinity beat Vidyartha 24-0
Bowl final: Isipathana beat Wesley 17-5
Plate final: Zahira beat St. Peter’s 14-5
Cup quarter-finals: Science beat St. Peter’s 7-5, St. Anthony’s beat D.S. 41-0, Royal beat Zahira 10-0, S. Thomas’ beat Thurstan 22-0
Semi-finals: Science beat St. Anthony’s 5-0, S. Thomas’ beat Royal 14-5
Final: S. Thomas’ beat Science 12-5
