(Daily Mirror) - The 11th Annual Open Junior Badminton Championship, organized by YMCA Moratuwa, concluded with great success at its indoor sports complex on May 11th and 12th. The event, targeting young talents under 11 and 13, drew over 100 participants who showcased impressive skills and sportsmanship.
Mr. J.S.A. Fernando, Chairman of the YMCA Moratuwa Sports Committee, expressed his satisfaction with the tournament's execution and turnout. "The enthusiasm and high level of play displayed by these young athletes are truly commendable," he said.
The tournament has become a staple in YMCA Moratuwa’s annual calendar, and this year was no exception. The finals and the awards ceremony were graced by the presence of Ms. Nilani Manthrinayake, President of YMCA Moratuwa and Attorney-at-Law, as the Chief Guest. Directors of YMCA Moratuwa, parents, and well-wishers also attended, contributing to the event's vibrant atmosphere.
International umpire Mr. Chandana Nilantha and referee Mr. Kasun Sigera ensured the matches were conducted smoothly and fairly. The winners and runners-up were honored with valuable gifts, medals, and certificates, celebrating their hard-earned achievements.
