The bourse edged lower today with relatively dull level of activity. Counters witnessed bare movements with low buying pressure.
 
ASI declined by 22.36 points (-0.41%) to end at 5,412.44 and sensitive MPI decreased by 19.24 points (-0.39%) to close at 4,910.32.Market turnover stood at Rs.442.0mn.
 
John Keells Holdings Plc recorded the highest turnover for the day at Rs.214.6mn. In addition Ceylon Tobacco Company Plc (Rs.54.3mn) and Hayleys Plc (Rs.13.1mn) made significant contributions to the daily turnover.
 
Meanwhile Swarnamahal Financial Plc, Seylan Development Plc and John Keels holdings Plc traded heavily during trading hours.
 
Furthermore 732.9mn shares of Taprobane Holdings Limited will be listed on the CSE by way of an introduction.
 
Foreign participation stood at 49% of the total market activity and at the end of the day foreign investors were net buyers with a net foreign inflow of Rs.41.3mn.
