Taking place at the Barefoot Gallery Loft on July 6th and 7th, art enthusiasts and supporters of inclusive communities will have the opportunity to acquire these remarkable works, knowing their purchase directly supports SJDSF's invaluable mission. The silent auction will commence at 10am on July 6th and will conclude at 4pm on July 7th.
Originally founded as the Rehabilitation Centre for the Communication Impaired, SJDSF has grown into a pivotal not-for-profit organization. Since its inception in 1993, SJDSF has positively impacted over 12,000 individuals across Sri Lanka, providing crucial training and support for those with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down’s Syndrome, learning disabilities, and other Intellectual Disabilities (ID).
Today, SJDSF continues its vital work with 30 dedicated trainees, focusing on economic empowerment through structured supported employment programs. Their Vocational Training Programme (VTP) produces high-quality products such as tie-dye t-shirts, bags, and jewellery, empowering trainees with valuable skills for sustainable livelihoods. Their Supported Employment Programme (SEP) bridges the gap between employees and employers, fostering a more inclusive workplace environment through training and ongoing support.
In addition to the main exhibition, be sure not to miss the inspiring 'Children for an Inclusive Future: Art Competition for Kids' showcase, featuring 20 winning artworks by talented young artists aged 6-8. These imaginative pieces vividly illustrate what diversity and inclusion mean to the future generation, offering a glimpse into a world where creativity knows no boundaries.
Mark your calendars and immerse yourself in art that makes a difference!
