Sheron Loftus first captured the hearts of listeners when she joined EFM in Colombo, co-hosting alongside Andy. She soon made a mark at Radio One, and then transitioned to television, taking on a role at Prime TV. Sheron, as she's affectionately known by her audience, is now making waves in Dubai, taking her passion for broadcasting to the global stage. Recognized for her creativity and ability to forge strong connections with her listeners, Sheron’s journey from an island nation to becoming an internationally recognized radio host is a story of perseverance, resilience, and an unyielding pursuit of dreams. Over the years, she has worked with notable figures, but it was her inner drive and determination that propelled her rise to success.
Chasing the Dream: Moving to Dubai
In 2011, Sheron made the bold decision to relocate to Dubai, motivated by her ambition to take her career international. Alongside her love for radio, she ventured into real estate, eventually working her way up to a senior managerial role. While the challenges of real estate were rewarding, they couldn’t replace the thrill of being behind the microphone. Her passion for broadcasting remained constant, and she knew media was where she truly belonged.
In 2017, Sheron returned to her roots in radio when she became one of the pioneering voices on Dubai’s newest English station, Heart 107.1. She made history as the first Sri Lankan to break into the city's British-dominated airwaves. As part of a vibrant team, she helped launch a dynamic morning show that quickly resonated with the diverse, fast-paced city. Together, they earned their place among industry leaders, proving that talent and passion transcend borders.
Throughout her career, Sheron has interviewed some of the biggest names in the music industry, turning lifelong dreams into reality. Iconic moments with stars like Ricky Martin, Boyz II Men, Mike Phillips, and the Backstreet Boys were career highlights; each a surreal "pinch-me" experience. However, when her son Caelan was born, Sheron embraced a new chapter of life. Motherhood brought a slower pace, and she temporarily stepped away from the whirlwind of the media world. Yet, her passion for radio never fully waned. She continued to stay connected to her craft, working part-time as a presenter on Talk 100.3. Now, with her sights set on reigniting her career, Sheron is ready to embrace whatever the next chapter may bring. With her finger on the play button, she’s prepared to step into the future with the same resilience and passion that has defined her journey. Her story is a testament to the belief that with hard work, determination, and an unwavering spirit, the best is always yet to come.
