Designers at MBFWSL are championing circular fashion models, exploring new ways of sourcing materials to minimize environmental impact. This year, MBFWSL has appointed internationally acclaimed designer Amesh Wijesekera as Creative Director for two of its most anticipated shows: the Future Craft Runway and the Destination Island Runway. Speaking to Daily Mirror, Designer, Karishma Shahani Khan of Ka-Sha, stated, “this is our first time in Sri Lanka, and we are eager to explore and learn about its unique approach to fashion and design. The opportunity to immerse ourselves in a new culture, connect with its people, and understand the subtleties of a country so close to ours is incredibly exciting for us.” Designer, Ishanee Mukherjee from WearPoochki, stated, “I'm truly honoured to be part of MBFWSL x SLDF! This collaboration holds great significance for me, as it brings together a community that celebrates the rich, traditional craftsmanship of Southeast Asia. I'm excited to both contribute to and learn from this dynamic platform, which promotes cultural preservation and drives innovation.”
