Eighteenth February Two Thousand And Twenty Two: The date Colombo witnessed the most luxurious and glamorous, Wedding of the Year, at the Grand Ballroom, Shangri La, Colombo.

Hasanga Jayaratne, son of Gamini and Chamari Jayaratne married his high school sweetheart, Paba Atapattu, daughter of Kolitha and Nandani Atapattu, at a traditional Poruwa ceremony followed by an elegant reception, after a decade of courting. Accompanied by horses, ridden by smartly-attired jockeys, all attached to their own Jayaratne Stables, the bride and groom were escorted to the venue amidst much fanfare; Kandyan drummers, dancers and fireworks. The white and silver Poruwa was adorned with strands of jasmine flowers and white roses, with a touch of greenery. The marquee erected on the fourth floor of the Shangri La, was draped in white fabric, with a white velvet and fur carpet for the wedding retinue to walk on. The marquee was stylishly decorated with beautiful white rose floral décor.

The Grand Ballroom was chicly and elegantly decorated; white with a touch of gold being the primary theme for the reception décor.  Floral décor covered the ballroom from floor to ceiling! White roses, white chandeliers, white candles, a white bar and a circular white dance floor, contributed to the ballroom being converted like never-before. It was a recreation of what heaven would look like; majestic, magical, pure and white. Keeping with their personal signature theme of horses the entrance photo space designed for guests featured a life size statue of a white horse. The couple’s going-away was on a horse drawn, wooden carriage accompanied by a troop of Horse Guards.
