Hasanga Jayaratne, son of Gamini and Chamari Jayaratne married his high school sweetheart, Paba Atapattu, daughter of Kolitha and Nandani Atapattu, at a traditional Poruwa ceremony followed by an elegant reception, after a decade of courting. Accompanied by horses, ridden by smartly-attired jockeys, all attached to their own Jayaratne Stables, the bride and groom were escorted to the venue amidst much fanfare; Kandyan drummers, dancers and fireworks. The white and silver Poruwa was adorned with strands of jasmine flowers and white roses, with a touch of greenery. The marquee erected on the fourth floor of the Shangri La, was draped in white fabric, with a white velvet and fur carpet for the wedding retinue to walk on. The marquee was stylishly decorated with beautiful white rose floral décor.
THE BRIDE
Dr. Paba Attapattu, an alumnus of Colombo International School and the University of Newcastle University, UK, is a Medical Registrar at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka. Paba wore a traditional Kandyan sari designed by Charith Wijesekera for the Poruwa Ceremony and a white lace bridal dress designed by Kamil Hevawitharana and Rona for the Reception. The bride’s make-up artist for the day was Viran Jose Peters, and her hair was styled by Shane Perera. Jewelry for the Kandyan sari was designed and created by Harris Wijesinghe.
THE GROOM
Hasanga Jayaratne, an alumnus of Colombo International School and the prestigious University of Warwick, UK, holds an MSc. in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and a BEng. in Engineering Business Management. Hasanga is an Executive Director of Jayaratne Group of Companies and Co-Founder and Executive Director of PetMart. For both the Poruwa Ceremony and the Reception, Hasanga wore two suits created by Italian designer, Ermenegildo Zegna with Tom Ford shoes.
THE FAMILY
Chamari Jayaratne wore a classic Sabyasachi kanjeevaram silk saree, woven by master weavers of Kanchipuram, with a hand-embroidered border. The jacket was designed by Aslam Hussein and she accessorized it with a silver Sabyasachi clutch bag. A white gold necklace encrusted with diamonds and emeralds were loosely draped around her neck, with a pair of white gold, diamond and emerald earrings. A platinum diamond cuff complemented her outfit for the evening. Her hair and make-up was on point, and was done by Dhananjaya Bandara.
Her daughter, Nishara, who was also dressed by Dhananjaya Bandara, wore a Sabyasachi sari with a jacket designed by Aslam Hussein. Traditional Gold and Pearl Jhumka earrings complemented her outfit. Her acrylic nail art for the occasion was done by much sought-after nail technician, Arjun Kumar. Nandani Atapattu opted to wearing a traditional Kandyan sari designed by Charith Wijesekera. Gold and diamond jewelry complemented her outfit. Nandani’s make-up was done by Viran Jose Peters and her hair was styled by Shane Perera.
