In ancient times, Sri Lanka was famous for Ayurvedic medical treatments and there were designated areas for consultations. The most known village for Ayurvedic treatments was ‘Weda Duwa', an island of Ayurvedic medical practitioners, in Raigampattuwa. This popular ‘Weda Duwa' is now called Wadduwa. While it continues tradition, Wadduwa has become one of the leading places in Sri Lanka for Ayurvedic and Spa treatment. Amongst the leading names, ‘Haridra Resort and Spa' has emerged as the latest player in the Ayurveda/ Spa game.

Haridra Resort & Spa is an all suites exclusive Boutique Hotel, situated in the breathtaking beach frontage of Wadduwa, designed to be the smart choice for up market leisure and business travellers with a unique experience of leisure and tranquility combined with genuine Sri Lankan Ayurveda Healing Therapies.

The Resort is a brain child of Dr. Godakanda of ‘Vendole' (Godakanda Herbals) fame and designed and reality created by architect Vinod Jayasinghe. Barely one and a half years old, Resort Haridra is now a popular destination with a state of the art Ayurvedic and Spa treatment Centre under Jetwing Managment.

‘Jetwing took over last December and the resort is gaining its name as a one of the top designer boutique hotels in the west coast. It has risen to this height mainly because of the Jetwing influence,' said Thomas Rodrigo, the Assistant Manager of the Resort.

Haridra Resort boasts a stunning super stylish 70 metre pool, Indian Ocean views and a fullyequipped spa and treatment Centre staffed by ‘The best masseurs in Sri Lanka'.

The lobby, which can be reached via a dramatic, sweeping driveway through sturdy gates, has been upholstered in warm shades, following the theme suggested by the name itself; warm yellow and brown shades which create a cosy, welcoming feel.

‘Haridra means turmeric in Pali. That's why we use warm yellows and browns,' Thomas said.

This all-suites resort offers the ultimate luxury and comfort in its 32 rooms, which are either garden, ocean or mansion suites. It has sixteen fully equipped garden suites and eight ocean suites and eight mansion suites with plunge pools. The Mansion Suites are the most luxurious suites available at Haridra. These eight suites, located at second floor level, are furnished for Kings and Queens and allow the guests to indulge in the absolute pleasure of royalty. ‘The treatments are prescribed and supervised by our qualified Ayurvedic doctor Prasad Wijesekera and administered by qualified therapists. Dr. Prasad advises on the need and the duration of the treatment programme,' said Mr Rodrigo.
