New additions at Earl’s Regency

The newly constructed ‘Knuckles Wing’, consisting of eighteen deluxe rooms and one suite at the Earl’s Regency, Kandy was, declared open by Minister Basil Rajapaksa. With the opening of the new wing, the total number of rooms at the Earl’s Regency has increased to 104 offering a luxury selection to visitors. Originally established with 86 rooms in 1999, the hotel has expanded later to its high-end room capacity with six premium rooms, two premium plus, four suites and three mini suites.
This year, the Earl’s Regency will initiate plans to further expand its room capacity from 104 to 125, to cater to increased tourism. ‘The expansion of room capacity to 125 rooms is to meet the anticipated increase in demand for tourism in the hill region of Sri Lanka’ said Earl Gunasekera, the Chairman of the property.
Along with the ‘Knuckles Wing’, the hotel’s newly created specialty Indian Restaurant ‘Spice’ was also opened by the Minister. This specialty Indian Restaurant features different culinary styles of India with the touch of a specialty Indian chef.
The executive Chef of the hotel said the ‘The Spice’ restaurant had already got its Indian specialty chef Balibir Singh.
‘Indian Restaurant will serve authentic Indian cuisine, which will be the very first of its kind in Kandy. There was a huge demand for Indian food in Kandy especially with the increase in Indian travellers to Kandy’ he added.
Regency has four specialized restaurants and bars. The Far Pavilion Restaurant is where exquisite culinary creations are lavished on the guests in an intimate setting and gourmet cuisine from around the world is served.
Nestling in the sprawling Dumbara Valley, overlooking the lush Knuckles mountain range and the scintillating Mahaweli River, Earl’s Regency Hotel is now ready to offer travellers a collection of lasting memories. ‘Since its establishment in 1999, the Earl’s Regency has represented the best of 5-star hospitality in the hill country of Sri Lanka, hosting many local and foreign dignitaries and heads of state’ Mr. Gunasekera said.
