This will undoubtedly provide them the pathway to progress in their studies.

While senior citizens who deposit funds into the People’s Bank’s Parinatha account can enjoy high interest rates, they also get to take advantage of special interest rates when they use the 'Swarna Pradeepa' pawning service for their gold items.

We have also launched a special loan scheme with a maximum loan repayment period of 15 years for senior citizens who are retired government sector employees. A special feature of this loan scheme is that they can obtain it in a fast and convenient manner by submitting minimum documentation.

Isuru Udana and Sisu Udana

Isuru Udana was launched by People’s Bank in 1998 for children from birth up to 5 years of age. Under the theme “The wisest gift for a child”, Isuru Udana gift certificates are made available in various denominations.

People's Bank introduced Sisu Udana Accounts in 1996 with the aim of inculcating the value of thrift in the hearts and minds of students from a young age and creating a generation of financially disciplined students to the country. This helped to nurture the habit of saving among school children aged 5 to 18 years. Today, People's Bank has the honour of having the most number of children's savings accounts in the country. In addition to the interest rates based on the account balance, children are given numerous gifts and benefits. People's Bank also acts as a responsible financial institution focused on building a stable future for them by providing various financial services up to their higher educational journeys. In the year 1997, with the aim of supporting children who have successfully passed the Grade 5 Scholarship exam to pursue their higher educational dreams, we commenced the awarding of scholarships. Ever since, every year we have commenced a programme to present cash and other gifts to children who have successfully passed the Grade 5, Ordinary Level and Advanced Level examinations.
