11 SLPP members oppose fielding own Presidential candidate

Colombo, July 29 (Daily Mirror) - Eleven members of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) opposed the party politburo's decision to field its own candidate for the Presidential election.

At its politburo meeting today, the SLPP decided not to support President Ranil Wickremesinghe in the upcoming Presidential election.

It was reported that 79 out of 82 politburo members attended the meeting.

The 11 MPs against the decision were Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Kanchana Wijesekera, Ramesh Pathirana, Prasanna Ranatunga, Bandula Gunawardena, S.B. Dissanayake, Mohan P. de Silva, Kanaka Herath, Kokila Gunawardena, Pradeep Undugoda and Sahan Pradeep.

RANIL a lifelong unper, now he has become independent!! He led the UNP to the ground. Yeah One seat. Last general Elections UNP got measly 249,235 votes out of 16.2 million eligible voters. This time around RANIL has abandoned his Party and the elephant symbol. Seriously, Why you want to vote for this loser yet there gonna be Million votes for him coz most Lankans are ignorant, hello RANIL didn't handle the economy Good, after the bankruptcy and since RANIL took Over, SL government haven't repaid any debt!! RANIL didn't do anything to get tourism increase, not helped the exporters or to increase foreign employment. These things were happening regardless of whoever the president. so if The government don't repayment of Debt, then it will help the country's Balance of payment. SL rupees appreciated against the dollar coz there was no demand for the dollar and gov't didn't repay the debt and imports are curtailed.

Be honest. Who do you think can take the country out of its mess from among the contesting candidates? Anura? hahaha. Sajith? You must be dreaming? Dammika? Sarath Fonseka? Any Tom, Dick or Harry? Just wait till elections and if you're brainless enough to make one of the above the President, even God will not be able to help you because God also helps only those who help themselves. The 75 year curse needs to come to a close. what have the governing politicians done for the down trodden of the country. the only project that benefitted the people was the mahaweli project after we obtained independence from the British. All politicians over the years the ruling elite have squandered the countries resources and robbed us blind. A change will definitely a breath of fresh air.
