Police Headquarters said that today that 17 OIC’s have been transferred with immediate effect. Police said that the transfers were routine transfers and they were not taken on disciplinary grounds.
CI A. Somaratne was transferred to Gokarella from Piliyandala, CI V.J.P Pushpakumara was transferred to Vavuniya from Kekirawa, CI D.E.J.P Nanayakkara was transferred to Akkaraipattu from Nikaweratiya, CI M.P.R Mohammed was posted as OIC Welfare, Police Headquarters from Akkraipattu, CI B.A. Perera was posted as OIC Supervision, Police Headquarters from Kalmunai, CI U.H Siriplala was transferred to Kalmunai as HQI from Kuliyapitiya and CI W.A. Nimal was transferred as OIC Galgamuwa from Embilipitiya.
IP H.M. Priyantha was transferred to Godakawela from Deniyaya, IP D.T. Lasantha was transferred to Deniyaya from Godakawela, IP W. Gunathilaka was transferred as OIC Gothatuwa from Dam Street, IP R.A. Manohara was transferred as OIC Cinnamon Garden from Gothatuwa.
IP W.H Weerawardena was transferred to Dam Street from the Police Sports Division, IP L.S. Gamini Perera was posted as OIC Bloomendhel from Thalangama, IP P.O. Silva was transferred to Koswatta from Marawila, IP P.L. Keerthisinghe was posted as the permanent OIC of Poddala as he was the acting OIC previously, IP W.B. Wijekoon was transferred to Rajanganaya from Eppawala and SI Athula Bandara was transferred to Peliyagoda from Bloomendhel.
The Police Department is planning to take a number of steps this year to increase its efficiency and move closer to the public by introducing a number of people’s friendly initiatives under the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) N.K. Illangakone.
The Department is currently going through a massive restructuring programme to increase the capabilities and efficiency of the department. (Supun Dias)
