20 Sri Lankans held in Myanmar scam centres released



Colombo, August 14 (Daily Mirror) - Twenty Sri Lankan trafficked victims out of 54 held in scan centers in Myawaddy, Myanmar have been released.

They have now been handed over to the immigration authorities to be sent back to Sri Lanka after clearance.

Sri Lankan Ambassador in Myanmar Prabhashini Ponnamperuma confirmed to the Daily Mirror that they had been released and sent to Thailand through the border area.

The Ambassador said this was a result of relentless engagement by Sri Lanka with the authorities of Myanmar and Thailand.
