Colombo, November 25 (Daily Mirror) - The 2024 GCE Advanced Level examination will commence today (25) at 2,312 centres, Examinations Commissioner General Amith Jayasundara said.
A total of 333,183 candidates will sit for the examination, including 253,390 school candidates and 79,793 private candidates.
He said that this year, only the heads of examination halls will be permitted to use mobile phones inside the examination halls, while other invigilators will not be allowed to use them at the centres.
The examination will conclude on December 20.
The Commissioner General further said that a joint programme has been initiated by the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) and the Examinations Department to mitigate potential disruptions during the examination period.
The Meteorology Department has forecast the possibility of a low-pressure system developing over the Bay of Bengal in the coming week.
However, the joint initiative aims to ensure a conducive environment for students to face the examinations successfully, minimizing disruptions caused by potential disasters.
