29 vehicles missing from Presidential Secretariat; President orders probe

It has been revealed that 29 vehicles from the 833 currently owned by the Presidential Secretariat are unaccounted for, the President’s Media Division said.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has instructed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to launch an investigation into the matter.

President Dissanayake has further directed that luxury vehicles used by previous governments be reassigned exclusively for essential public services.

Speaking at a media briefing held today (26) at Galle Face, the President's Private Secretary, Ananda Wijepala, voiced his disappointment over the misuse of government vehicles.

GO AFTER THOSE WHO WERE ALLOCATED AND TOOK OVER THE 29 VEHICLES GONE MISSING, PRODUCE THE VEHICLE OR PAY THE COST OF THE VEHICLE OR JAIL TIME, AS PROBABLY SOLD THEM. ONE CANNOT JUST LEAVE A VEHICLE AND TAKE OFF, WHO DID THEY HAND OVER THE KEYS TOO, LOOKS LIKE THEY LEFT THE KEYS IN THE CARS. ALL VEHICLES SHOULD HAVE BEEN HANDED OVER TO A RESPONSIBLE OFFICER, VEHICLES CHECKED FOR DAMAGES ETC AND LOCKED. SURPRISING NO SECURITY WERE NOT EMPLOYED TO WATCH OVER THAN MANY CARS PARKED, APPEARS TO BE A PLANNED INCIDENT WHERE THE CARS JUST ROLLED IN ONE AFTER THE OTHER, LEFT WITH KEYS IN CARS!! WHAT A JOKE. LET'S SEE WHAT THE INVESTIGATION REVEALS.
