Colombo, August 8 (Daily Mirror) - As of August this year, a total of 3,694 Sri Lankans have left for work in South Korea, with another 100 individuals set to depart soon, the Sri Lanka Foreign Bureau of Employment (SLBFE) said.

Accordingly, 100 individuals, including eight women, left for South Korea on Tuesday (6) to work in the manufacturing sector. This is part of the employment opportunities made available through the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) and the South Korean Human Resource Development Service Institute, the Bureau said.

Since the signing of the MoU in 2004, Sri Lankans have been departing the island to work in South Korea, with this group being the 873rd. There is a growing trend among young people in Sri Lanka to seek employment in South Korea, and more young women are also pursuing these job opportunities.

Currently, new job contracts are being issued for positions in South Korea, and many more workers are scheduled to leave for these jobs in the near future.
