31 Kahawatta cops transferred

Thirty-one policemen attached to the Kahawatta police station were transferred with effect from yesterday (13), the Police Headquarters said.

They noted that the transfers were made on service requirements and not on disciplinary grounds.

However, a senior police official told Daily Mirror Online that the transfers were made in order to have impartial investigations into the recent murders in the Kotakethana area as some of them had close links with local politicians.(Supun Dias and Sanath Desmond)
