37 injured in head-on collisions in Kuliyapitiya, Nittambuwa

At least 37 persons including schoolchildren have been injured in two separate head-on collisions in Kuliyapitiya and Nittambuwa this morning.

Police said at least 15 students were injured after a school bus collided with a bus at Karantippala in Kuliyapitiya. The injured students were admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.

Meanwhile, at least 22 people were injured in an accident involving a passenger bus, a container truck and a fuel bowser at Nittambuwa.

The accident took place in Kajugama on the Colobmo-Kandy main road, and the injured were admitted to the Wathupitiwala Hospital.

Unbelievable! Thank goodness there were no fatalities. Let's hope the children recover fast. Why do some drivers have a need for speed? It's a no-brainer. Round them up let's put their "MOLEs' in ""ALEE".

If you watch some of the YouTube videos about Sri lankan bus trips you will observe that the drivers hold the steering wheel with their 2 fingers and speed at around 120km whereas the legal limits is just 70. They overtake other vehicles even if there are oncoming vehicles. They do this every day and police do nothing about it.

Should bowser drivers speed with arrogance??? They have no respect for other road users because their vehicles are huge. If timing is important start early and drive slowly to the destination.
