Over 40 injured in Kandy accident

A hired private bus heading towards Mennikhinna from Kandy had veered off the road and crashed injuring at least 44 passengers at the Kirimetiyana Junction in Mennikhinna this morning, police spokesman SP Preshantha Jayakody told Daily Mirror online.

A majority of the passengers were admitted to the Kandy Hospital while 16 were hospitalized at the Mennikhinna Hospital.

A party from Mapanawatura had hired this private bus to visit the “Deyata Kirula Exhibition “now been held at Pallekelle. It is learnt that the bus had gone off the road trying to take a bend. Mennikhinna Police are conducting further inquiries.

srilanka most of the buses are not road worthy . the commissioner of motror is blind in his subject . he must leave the dept forthwith.
