45 petitions before SC against Online Safety Bill: Speaker

A total of 45 petitions have been received by the Supreme Court challenging the Online Safety Bill, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena announced in Parliament today.

The Speaker said he had received copies of 34 petitions earlier while copies of 11 new petitions were received on Tuesday. (By Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)

Speaker appears to be proud of the fact that 45 Petitions are before court. Speaker must understand that so many petitions before court is not a matter to be proud of but exposes the government's lack of understanding of formulating new laws
