ACPBOF wants 20% fare hike; to strike from May 16

The All Ceylon Private Bus Owners' Federation (ACPBOF) would launch a strike from midnight Wednesday (May 16) if the Government failed to increase bus fares by 20 percent, ACPBOF Secretary Anjana Priyanjith said.

“We have requested the Government to increase bus fares by 20 percent and a minimum fare of Rs 10 to Rs 15 from May 15,” he said.

He said they would launch the strike from Wednesday midnight if the Government failed to meet their request.(DS)

3 wheel guys and bus guys rule. The govt. Should give the public transport system to a foreign country. Cheaper and would be a better service.

Never reduced the bus fare when fuel prices came down. The guys are requesting a 50% increase in minimum fare. Crazy bunch. Let them strike. Of course the public will suffer TEMPORARILY. But these won't strike for more than 2 days.

These bus and 3wheel fellows are bigger thieves than politician. They will rot in hell. Gov must cancel permits if go on strike and give them to private company or sign FTA for foreign company to do transport.

What has the government done during the last 3 years for public transport. Nothing? No, I am wrong , the government imports luxury cars for the ministers ( I think ministers are also public) and give tax free permits to MPs and privileged government servants. Now face the black mail and increase bus fares.

They need to think about the earnings of travelers before increasing fare! Good income earner use ther own transportation than public transport , Nothing to say bec we people are much used to price adaption rather opposing it!
