AG indicts Tissa Attanayake

The Attorney General today indicted former United National Party (UNP) general secretary Tissa Attanayake in the Colombo High Court on charges of publishing a letter with forged signatures of the then common opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena and the then opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe during the 2015 presidential election campaign.

He was indicted on three counts under the Penal Code, the International Political and Civil Rights Convention and the Presidential Election Act.

Earlier, Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne sent a reminder to the AG’s Department to expedite proceedings in the case filed against former United National Party (UNP) General Secretary Tissa Attanayake. (Shehan Chamika Silva)
