The government decided that Grade Five Scholarship Examination and Advanced Level Examination will go ahead as scheduled, Education Minister Prof. G.L.Peiris said.
The Minister told a press conference that the two exams will be held as scheduled in line with instructions issued by the health authorities.
He said special arrangements have been made at the examination centres for the students in the Gampaha district and the students who are scheduled to visit Gampaha District to sit for the exam.
The Grade Five Scholarship examination will be held on October 11 and the Advanced Level examination will commence from October 12.
He said these arrangements have been made for the safety of the students who have to travel to other districts from Gampaha. For them, special transport arrangements have been made as per Health Ministry's COVID-19 health recommendations.
He also said special transport arrangements will be arranged after discussions with the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) for the students who have to travel to Gampaha from other districts such as from Colombo.
"Some 362,000 applicants will sit for A/L examination and it will be held at 2,648 examination centres, while 331,000 applicants will appear for Grade Five Scholarship examination at 2936 examination centres. The maximum of 160 student applicants will be ccommodated in each examination centre. All centres should strictly follow the COVID-19 health recommendations," Minister Pieris added.
