Colombo, May 06 (Daily Mirror)- Action will be taken against the person who caused a disturbance at the visa issuing section at the Katunayake Airport, Public Security Minister Tiran Alles said today.
He told a news conference that steps will also be taken against the officers who recorded the incident.
Roy Berman Monday, 06 May 2024 12:55 PM
This is SL. Man who speaks get the punishment. Sri Lankans can't talk or speak against the wrong.

He should be recognized for tourist promotion. If anyone has an issue he should appeal or discuss with the relevant authorities. We do not need cheap thuggery and racist/hate speeches in the airport. He should have been taken to custody by the airport police then and there.

You need a complaint to take action. The minister seems to be thinking that he's Lord almighty to take arbitrary action

In your opinion, it was disturbance. In the opinion of PUBLIC, it is a corrupt dealing replacing the Telecom perfect system with an Indian system.

Minister action must be taken against you as being the minister responsible, that person only let the cat out of the if not the public wouldn’t have known, you cannot place your hand on him, you should resign immediately

No Manifesto Yet from Opposition Parties Tuesday, 07 May 2024 12:34 PM
No minister has resigned so far. That’s why it’s paramount during elections the correct candidates are voted. This system may go on for many more years as many are satisfied with the current regime of handling things and will vote them back. Don’t be surprised if that happens coz current opposition parties are not so established and some voters have reservations of their past wrong doings. Till today, these opposition politicians have not come with a manifesto and those undecided voters have a challenge.,

The Minister should apologize to the person who caused the disturbance for the inconvenience to his family.

Action should be taken against the relevant minister including the tourism minister. This why we need a change in the political and government.

This Country belongs to its Citizens. Every Person has a democratic right !! Immigration is the legitimate Visa granting authority at an Airport as far as we know !!

Chryshan Monday, 06 May 2024 01:18 PM
All these years these work was carried out by our immigration officers very smoothly. Just because you cannot take bribes out of it you should not contract foreign companies to do this and earn in millions of dollars. This guy did a great thing by showing the wrong things you rogues are upto.

So, there will be no action against those who had a deal with Kaviraj Bandari to earn millions of dollars from foreigners coming into this country but action is being taken against someone who spoke against it.

The message is clear; If visitors don't like the way on arrival Visas are handled and even think of complaining about it - Don't come to Sri Lanka.

Here is a man, who like all the others in that queue, suffering immensely due to the stupid and unethical actions of a minister, who was driven by greed. That person had a right to voice his views on the horrendous difficulties that people underwent. The whole process of outsourcing the visa issues, which until that time had been carried out by state officials was put out of gear due to the stupid actions of this wretched minister. We need many youths of the caliber of the guy who spoke at the same time that we need to chase away the corrupt ministers; the whole bunch of them.

This minister should rectify the error , not go behind the man who complained about the delay

DW Monday, 06 May 2024 02:06 PM
Someone probably got frustrated because the officers at visa issuing section are half sleep and operate at a snail pace. The real action should be training them to be more efficient and educate them about the importance of high productivity. These people have never seen how fast immigration officers in other countries (especially in developed countries) operate.

He did nothing wrong It was the Gov that assigned This to a Company when the Dept of Immigration had well functioning system
0 0
RS Monday, 06 May 2024 02:10 PM
Why was the on arrival visa process outsourced while it was being handled smoothly by the officials of the dept of immigration. Much could be done at the level of our embassies for promotion of tourism instead of relying on this third party.

He was only pointing out the doggy system and he made rest of the world know some one is milking the tourist. Instead of correcting them you charge him. This must be a commission based system. 50 to 100 is absurd. Sure the tourist are going to stay away.

So someone kicks up a fuss about being wronged. Sri Lanka government reaction is to prosecute them rather than address the real problem.

Don't display your stupidity in public like this. The citizens are not fools. This proves you too had a cut from this company.

Yohan Monday, 06 May 2024 02:29 PM
Look at this thug. He is ruining any reputation gain recently by the government with the work done by RW. He has offered the contract to a private company without a tender and also ignored almost zero cost offer from one of the two main telecommunications companies here. It is high time to take action against this crook and send him to same place like Keheliya. Npp is not even making a single statement against him as he is a close funder of jvp.

This was a tragic drama where a Sri Lankan man who is denied a visa to his foreign girl friends keeps berating India and Indians in front of all the visiting foreigners. Watching are Senior Immigration Officers who seem to do nothing about the situation. This Immigration area belongs to Ministry of Defense and is a Highly Secured Area in any countries Airport and to see this man shouting at the top of his voice against another nationality and another nation who are not in anyway involved in the denying of Visa to his foreign Girl Friend. This is typical Sri Lankan ignorance at work.

Why isn't he taking action against VFS for unlawfully taking money from passengers. Maybe he is upset as the commissions will stop. What a clown. Should be thrown out in the next election. He can never contest and win anyway .

Yes,don’t let people to raise their voices ,that might lead to Aragalaya, taking what ever action against the man stand up solo at airport , would be ignited fire against the rule, which will negatively influence the government vote base,

CYRIL MUNDY Monday, 06 May 2024 06:34 PM
My experience with VFS is their systems are a bit shaky and that there are faults in their payment processor. It would be better if the Minister concentrated on that and not hounding those who tried to highlight the failings.

Very good. If the complainant had any grievances, he should have put in a complaint in writing. Here he behaved as if though he knows how to run the immigration office. He developed Dutch courage due to his foreign wife who was next to him. He wanted to show off. He brought disgrace to Sri Lanka.Get him out of Sri Lanka.
