See, this country will never progress as JVP led unions are opposing anything good introduced. If they plan , Airport express train, they will oppose that too. We also read many negative comments as well. This is what NPP stands for guys.

I had one bad experience in 2004 with the local Johnny’s at the airport. Since then I’ve never used them and discourage anyone from using them! They will never allow progression, just like our leftist unionists. This country shall and will always remain ‘third world’!

We know that airport taxi drivers are not represented by a union but depend on their contact with government ministers to keep taxi prices high. I don't know how the JVP/NPP can be brought into this.

Country did not progress since independence in 1948 owing to the protests by Opposition parties in Parliament and their stooges. First instanc e was the 1953 Hartal. They opposed the introduction of the Guaranteed Price Scheme to the Farmer Community. Latest was the opposition to the Free Ambulance Service where even the so-called educated Doctors by profession were against this Fee Service to the Citizens. In between when the 'reds' formed the Government in 1970 they opposed the CBEU Strike which lasted 111 days from 12 midnight on 31st December 1972. They were against a Twelve Rupee increment in Monthly wage. This was the commencement of downfall of the Trade Union Movement in Sri Lanka.

For everyone who hate or dislike NPP; UNP, SLFP, SLPP all had ruled Ceylon/SL. None of them achieved anything significant except borrowing significantly and passed the debts to their successors. They did it repeatedly. If they come again I don't except anything new from them. RW had loads of opportunities. Achived nothing notable. Therefore, I don't mind giving an opportunity to someone new like SJB/Sajit or NPP/Anura. After all I doubt they can do any worse than. At least we give them ALSO an opportunity. Nothing to lose.

In every other country there are taxi, bus or train services from the main airport. In SL there are only scammers waiting for you if come out of the terminal.

I have not read any comments about exploring the root cause of the issue. Was the process of selecting this service provider done in a transparent manner? Who is the owner? Is this person having any connection to current government members? Have obtain required permits? Was the process to issue the permit open to other bus operators? How permitted them to import those buses? Readers, please try to analyze the issues without really understanding the issues which created the problem. Just blaming and engage verbal abuse of your political opponents serves no propose.

Had this public transport service not taken over by the government in 1960 as per leftwing political ideology the transport service would have been like other regional developed countries like Singapore. After the take over the governments found that it had become a huge burden in the budgets because of political supporters taking the higher posts of the administration and the administrative structure took the shape of an inverted pyramid. JR government de centralized the transport service and at the same time allowed private operators to share the service. It was a mistake to allow individual operators like taxies instead of companies. Today there there are many operator unions in each sector and the givernment can not introduce any new methods to improve because this bus mafia go on strike. The transport service is now controll by bus mafia. They manipulate so that tge buses are fully packed a 62 seater bus carrying more than 150. At rush hour. They harress the commuters in vario

This is why we can't have nice things. Tired passengers don't need taxi drivers to flock like crows and pester the weary pax to hire them. It would have been so much nicer to hop the superb shuttle buses than deal with taxi fellows.
