Amaraweera’s official residence handed over to Sirimavo Girl’s College

Colombo, October 8 (Daily Mirror) - Former Agriculture and Plantation Industries Minister Mahinda Amaraweera vacated his official residence at Paget Road, Colombo 7, today.

Minister Amaraweera said that he had submitted a proposal to the Cabinet during the previous government.

He also mentioned that Cabinet approval was granted to transfer the official residence to Sirimavo Bandaranaike Girls' College.

The former Minister said that accordingly all necessary documents to hand over his official residence for the use of Sirimavo Bandaranaike Girls' College, Colombo, have been completed.

Therefore, the official residence will be transferred to Sirimavo Bandaranaike Girls' College from today (8).

At least , there is no publicity for NPP here as the former Minister had already done the paper work. Wasantha Samarasinghe cannot claim credit for this. AKD not interfering with this means that he is a gentleman.

What a great self-serving gesture indeed and not a bit ashamed of handing it over when his political death is imminent. He'd still be gracing this place for years to come, had the Ranil/Pohottuwa marriage managed to hang on to their mandateless power.

Whom are these people trying to hoodwink? This was something that was decided sometime ago and minister Amaraweera never made an attempt to handover the residence whilst in power. They become philanthropists once out of office. . Best is for him to vacate the residence and go home quietly.

Will the housed be used for good or bad by the Sirimavo Bandaranaike school? Who paid the former Minister Mahinda for him to donate government property to the school?
