Another PC involved in ‘Harak Kata’s’ escape plan arrested
Another police constable who is said to have supported the escape plan of Nadun Chinthaka Wickramaratne alias ‘Harak Kata’, who is in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department, has been arrested.
Police said the CID arrested the suspect constable and he is to be handed over to the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) for further questioning.
Nadun Chinthaka had earlier attempted to escape custody by snatching a firearm from a Sub-Inspector during questioning by the CID.
Following the failed attempt by 'Harak Kata', the police constable who had assisted him had gone missing.
Earlier, the CID arrested several persons for aiding and abetting the police constable who assisted ‘Harak Kata’ to escape CID custody. The mother and the brother-in-law of the police constable were also among those arrested.
Investigations are still under way to arrest the Police Constable. However, reports claimed that he had already left the country.
