Anura Kumara meets TNA representatives in Jaffna

Jaffna, June 11 (Daily Mirror)- Nationals People's Power (NPP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake today met people's representatives of the North including TNA MP M.A Sumanthiran and Mavai Senadirajah at the Ilankai Thamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK) office in Jaffna.

He also met former TNA MP Dharmalingam Siddarthan during his visit to Jaffna.

They discussed at length the current political atmosphere in the country, issues faced by the people and the need to create national harmony.

NPP National Executive Committee member Bimal Rathnayake and Ramalingam Chandrasekar attended the meeting.

The election is just around the corner and politicians are now reminding themselves that 15 years after the end of a terrible war, there are people, especially in the north and east of the country, who are still suffering from the effects of that war! That there is an ethnic problem that none of the previous governments has found a solution that is possible for everyone!!! Here too, I doubt that any of the nervous parties, despite numerous promises, will keep their word after the election and work with the Tamils and their political parties to find pleasant and lasting pragmatic solutions!!! Here too, I believe that only Fonseka, who also enjoys broad support among Tamils, would be capable of doing this!!!

Anura Kumara will lose lot of votes if he does what Ranil, and SJB said they want to and implement 13A to the Constitution. 70% of the country is completely against 13A, and it should happen with 2/3 majority in referendum if it ever happens.

Sumanthiran is an almost rejected politician. So is his fraction within TNA. At the next parliamentary election Suma will loose with a big margin. Looks like Ranil is behind all these and probably ranil is trying to form an alliance with Anura. Unp has worked closely with jvp since 2010. So probably presidential candidate will be Anura and Prime Ministerial candidate will be Ranil from the alliance. Only weakness is when people start questioning about what Anura has done since 2001. He is in parliament for more than 24 years and 14 months as a minister. He was given a powerful post by Ranil and was given an office at temple trees during yahapalanaya to catch thieves but he failed very badly. So we cannot see anything done by him other than talking rubbish.

Any political party from the south offering any concessions to the Sri Lankans living in the north are bound to lose their election bid. A sitting PM was assassinated for the same reason and a 30 year civil has not changed their mindset. 50 years passed and the people have not changed and will not change. The communal thinking has been passed onto the next generation and that will continue. AKD’s primary objective is to win power, everything else is secondary. He has also given his contenders the ammunition required to campaign against him.
