PC Wednesday, 28 February 2024 07:57 PM
Haven’t you heard of campaign funds ? They collect money from people and people contribute towards party fund collection, that’s how they are able to contest elections. They need money. He is obviously traveling to meet SL diaspora to collect money for the party.

@ PC - So when AKD travels all over the world to collect funds for his party, it is correct, but when the president travels seeking funds and assistance to keep the country going

So the poor people give money for the fund thinking that it will be used for helping other similar people. Instead it's being used for private benefits. I feel so sorry for the contributors.Ruwan

He is now Travelling all over the world. We can imagine his travelling habit if he become president. With the modern technology everything can be done stay in Sri Lanka. Travelling habit of Ranil is better than is man.

So this is now clear evidence he was funded by tamil diaspora to unseat President Gotabaya Rajapakse and funded their aragalaya campaign to unsettle the country as Rajapakse's never gave in to tamil or Muslim diaspora but always protected national security and did not trade the values but protected the majority and the country from evils. Hope the SriLankans living in Canada will ask him why JVP demerged the North and East provinces through the courts in 2006.

A lot of people around the worldwide are happy to pay for him for his honesty and political wisdom and knowledge in politics. If inept politicians like MR; MS and GR can fly on public money why not with money of well wishers . This is given out of love and affection and not by force

When Mr Ranil Wickremasinghe, who revived the failing Sri Lankan economy, goes overseas on official visits, it is criticised by some. But, if people with an antediluvian Marxist ideology who assassinated an erudite like Professor Stanley Wijesundara go overseas (on whose account? I do not know), then it is extolled!

I see a very positive trend here, question all your representatives irrespective of the party that you are aligned with and hold them accountable. It was not the case with majority and that's why we are in such a mess, a country blesses with diversity and majority who wants a 8to 5 job and up in arms for foreigners doing business and ultimately adding value to the economy..

After destroying the economy and the youth mentality for over 5 decades the JVP will sell the country to India and the Diaspora.

Though presently he is small man but in next election he would be elevated to the highest post in SriLanka, his visit to Canadian doorstep is good opportunity to Canadian government to meet future leader of SriLanka, a trustworthy character (so far) and hopefully Canada will not loose this opportunity to build up longstanding friendship essential for both countries

The News coming from Toronto is that Lankan diaspora will fund heavily the NPP upcoming elections campaign. Let's remember you need big money to contest for public office!!

Tissa Fernando Thursday, 29 February 2024 10:21 AM
Yes , strategic assets to India and the North and East to diaspora. Not only this guy, everyone else is doing it but he deceives people. People are voting for him to get revenge from the current government.

Jude Thursday, 29 February 2024 11:31 AM
@Tissa, NPP gonna form next government in SL. mind you 80% of voters Born after 1971 or they were teenagers then they've no recollection of not concerned. Other political parties talking about the past, yeah 1971, 87

Tissa Fernando Thursday, 29 February 2024 07:24 PM
Jude, I do not think that they will get the votes, it is just a propaganda campaign funded by foreign governments. They may get more votes than before but not 50% as Indians say. May be the Indians want less trouble to protect their investments.

I read several comments. Majority of readers don’t understand how the organization is functioning in general. I am recommending them to join at least a non profit organization to understand how their funds are utilized. Every organization carries their own constitution and funds are spent under the umbrella as per the constitution. In my point of view party is sending AKD to establish by lateral relationships between those countries and it’s a very good opportunity to meet Sri Lankan diaspora. I don’t see any irregularity in this process perhaps I am happy that NPP is not spending tax payers money.
