Armed gang shoots cashier, flees with cash from Meegoda Economic Center

Shooting in Sri Lanka's South: Two dead Meegoda, Feb 12 (Daily Mirror) - A woman was injured when two armed men broke into the Meegoda Economic Center, shot at her and robbed a shop before fleeing early this morning.

Police said the woman, who was the cashier at the time, was hit by three bullets in her abdomen and was admitted to the Homagama Hospital.

A CCTV camera installed in the shop recorded the robbers looting cash from the drawer.

The robbers stole money from the top drawer of the store and shot at the woman after demanding for the key to get money from the bottom drawer.

The Meegoda Police Post is located in front of the Meegoda Economic Center where the shooting took place.

The two gunmen who committed the robbery fled on a motorcycle.

Terrible fellows why shoot hope the lady is recovering..guns need to be taken from all unlicensed people compulsory with heavy penalties gun reforms and a mechanism to stop gun violence its not rocket science

Lot of bragging by the top guardians of the law that they on a daily basis apprehend those who flout the law. How come that several murders take place where hired criminals are roaming and extinguishing lives amidst the close proximity of Police stations? etc, There is a strained relationship between the public and the guardians of the law otherwise why cannot these hired thugs be apprehended when roadblocks are installed at several important points. The answer is that the public are not co-operating otherwise why do most vehicles flash their lights giving the signal to all other road users that there is some type of checking. By this the criminals will use this information to avoid these places. Analyzing this phenomenon the only conclusion is that when operational exercises are done it should be borne in mind that the enforcers should not take the public into custody unless there are good reasons. Also any operation should not be publicized daily to bring fear to the public !!!!
