Automated Facial Recognition System at BIA to identify criminals fleeing country
An Automated Facial Recognition System has been installed at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) to identify the criminals who are fleeing the country or arriving in the country.
It was inaugurated by Public Security Minister Tiran Alles today.
Acting IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon said some 42 criminals had fled the country after committing crimes during the past and a mechanism is required to prevent that.
