BIA Customs nab trader with Rs.20 Mn worth fags, e-cigarette refills



Colombo, Sep 14 (Daily Mirror) - A local trader who tried to smuggle in a large quantity of illegal cigarettes and e-cigarette refills from Dubai was arrested by the Sri Lanka Customs at the airport this morning. 

Customs officials stationed at the Bandaranaike International Airport arrival terminal took a passenger in for questioning on suspicion and found illegal cigarettes in his baggage. 

The Customs found 120,400 sticks of cigarettes of a brand in 602 cartons along with the e-cigarette refilling canisters, the BIA sources said. 

The passenger identified to be a resident of Maradana has been detained for further inquiries. 

He arrived in the country on SriLankan Airlines flight UL226 around 5.00am today.
