Dhaka, Dec. 6 (AFP) - Bangladesh's Mushfiqur Rahim became only the second batsman in Test history dismissed for obstructing the field in Wednesday's second match against New Zealand in Dhaka.
New Zealand appealed against Mushfiqur, who was found to have pushed the ball away with his gloves while defending against Kyle Jamieson in the 41st over.
Television umpire Ahsan Raza declared Mushfiqur out for 35 after the on-field umpires asked for a check.
England's Leonard Hutton was the only other batsman to be dismissed for obstructing the field in Test cricket during a match against South Africa at the Oval in 1951.
Seven other Test cricketers have been dismissed for having handled the ball, a similarly unusual dismissal integrated into "obstructing the field" dismissals when the laws governing cricket were rewritten in 2017.
