An emergency was declared at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) following a bomb hoax on the Colombo-bound Vistara flight from Mumbai, ten minutes before landing.

The captain received the non- specific call ten minutes before landing and the authorities concerned were alerted in terms of protocols, according to the airport and aviation authorities. 

All 96 passengers with eight crew members landed safely and were evacuated for a search of  the aircraft.
