Bribery Commission publishes Presidential candidates’ asset declarations online

Colombo, August 21 (Daily Mirror)- The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) said that the assets declarations of Presidential candidates are now available on its official website for public access.

In accordance with Section 89 of the Anti-Corruption Act, Presidential candidates submitted their assets and liabilities statements along with their nomination papers to the Election Commission.

These statements have since been forwarded to the CIABOC.

Accordingly, the redacted versions of the relevant asset and liability declarations, with certain non-disclosable information removed as per Subsection 88(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, are now being made public.

The declarations can be viewed at (https://ads.ciaboc.lk)

I tried to access but they are asking to sign up and then login. Why is that required if its public access.

This is a good move. It appears that it is available only to those in SL. What about the overseas workers who got foreign phone numbers. Are they denied access. Can the BC answer

Cannot believe in what ever they they have declared. Most of their assets are in foreign bank accounts and what about the house and property they own abroad.

If you know details about these foreign assets and houses please write to the ciaboc under your true name and address and letter must be signed. Then CIABOC will investigate and you are entitled to witness protection if you feel its needed.

Why the hell do you have to register to see the results? In a country like Sri Lanka, where dictatorial regimes are often in power, registering with a government agency can be dangerous.
