CB Chief to brief MPs on Sri Lanka’s financial performance today

Parliament, September 3 (Daily Mirror) - Central Bank Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe is to brief all MPs on Sri Lanka' s current financial performance today.

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena announced that this special meeting between the MPs and the Central Bank Chief will be held in accordance with the Central Bank Amendment Bill which was approved by Parliament in 2023.

This is an indirect way of promoting Ranil. Financial performance is debatable but CB Chief is trying to woo voters in favour of Ranil. EC must put a stop to this

Mr CB Boss, This is not the time to address the MPs and the ministers during the predential campaign. What ever the positive or negative stuff will definitely affect the campaign. The election commission should stop this immediately

If the provision is made in the new CB Act that CB Governor should brief the MPs in parliament periodically, and it happens to be Sep 24, what is the problem in doing so. It is very sad most of who make comments do not read the News item properly. Just bços of Elections the normal activities cannot come to an halt. The financial performance - some would be positive and some negative which will be a minus point to the govt. in power. Be more matured my friends.

Waste of Time and energy CB Chief. They know very simple things, such as bread, rice, liquer, sugar and milk are more costly than what it was compared to the time they went to school. This knowledge will help them to understand the serious situation in the country. But what can they do now or ever? They were never interested in these matters. All they wanted was to hold on to a job - being MPs. One thing for sure. They will not last long as MPs.

They have forgotten that the core ingredient to financial/economic performance of a State always is the manufacturing and industrial performance. Fiddling with performance results, sometimes even manipulating such, is the job of tin stripes suited beaurocrats. Sure one need clever articulate financial managers and strategists to navigate through. But without hard graft through sweat and blood, which SL needs now, just as then, nothing emerge.

Its very important that all MPs understand the dire situation the country is in. 2 years of recovery will be undone with stupid actions by whoever is next president and in parliament. People are taking everything for granted. We came out of this with the support of most countries in the world. If actions are undone, no one will help us. You lot have absolutely no clue how difficult it was to get out of the hole the last two years. You are living in the past. Wake up! Be grateful and improve instead of wrecking everything with anger.
