CEB denies responsibility for island-wide power failure

While denying reports that the Ceylon Electricity Board accepts the blame for the recent island-wide power failure across the island, the CEB said that two committees are investigating the island-wide power failure on December 9.

The CEB said that a statement regarding the cause of the power failure can only be issued after the completion of the relevant investigations.

They said an internal investigation committee and an external investigation committee are investigating the incident.

Almost 3 weeks since the power outage and they are still investigating the cause? Is this the normal lethargy in the organisation. What nonsense! Whose tracks are they trying to cover up?

Who is going to dear the cost of so called committees? What happened to earlier island wide power failure committee report and recommendations? Instead of wasting valuable public funds any more best what irresponsible persons can do is leave the place and let capable person to handle the job efficiently.

Of course it is absolutely not their fault, whoever uses electricity, their fault that they can get uninterrupted electricity from this kind of crooked management. Sri Lanka must be changed from grass-root level.

What a stupid statement by CEB. As an Electrical and Electronics Engineer, if no one is capable of finding root cause and understanding the system vulnerable points, why CEB needs decorated Engineers, Chartered Engineers, Members and Fellows mostly from. IESL. JOKING.

Investigating until the public forget. No men and women enough in CEB to take responsibility for their blunders but think only about perks, bonuses and how to manipulate CEB resources! Restructuring of this bloated organisation is a must. Trim down the workforce to required minimum and get them to work for their money. That will bring cost per unit for the customers.

We pay for free education and make them Engineers. It is now already few weeks past this incident but still we do not know the culprits. Everything is manipulated including each rupee spent on educating these idiots is at the expense of the public. Do you think gentlemen educated Engineers of another country will behave like this?

This is the typical Sri Lankan. Committees are appointed, members make a fast buck out of tax payers money and reports going into thousands of pages are prepared. Findings show that powerful figures (usually politician) are involved. So the reports are swept under the carpet, no one is held responsible and the incident is forgotten. Nothing better can be expected from the CEB investigation teams too.
