CEB submits proposals on electricity tariff revision to PUCSL

Colombo, June 11 (Daily Mirror)- The Ceylon Electiricity Board (CEB) last Friday submitted its proposal to the Pupblic Utility Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) for the tariff revision from July 2024, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara said.

He said on X that the PUCSL will determine the final tariffs after evaluation of the proposal and a public consultation.

The proposal for energy charges for the Domestic sector, Religious sector, General Purpose and Government Buildings sectors are as follows:

The season adjustment of tariffs must be a norm. When there is much rain, prices should be lowered, and when there is no more available hydro-power, prices should be increased. There should be more frequent changes, like once a month about changes in tariff depending on the seasonal rains.

last year they overcharged the customers and made huge profits,after apublic outcry promised to repay back , conveniently forgotten now .high time they payed back

You could reduce further Mr. Minister. This is not enough, if you can't make proper calculations, please call up Mr. Harsha De Silva (SJB) or Hiran Wickramaratne (SJB) they will do the best for the public.
