CID launches probe into reports of Rs. 45mn being withdrawn by three leading Galle Face protestors



The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has launched an investigations into reports that three leading activists of the Galle Face protest site 'GotaGoHome', allegedly received large amounts of funds to three local bank accounts from overseas, Police said.

Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said that the CID was currently probing into the incident.

It was reported that three activists, Rathidu Senarathna also known as Ratta, Dilan Senanayake and Avishka Viraj Konara, had recently opened three new accounts at a leading bank at Union Place last week and an amount of Rs. 45 million had been deposited from overseas into these three accounts.

According to reports, a few hours later, the activists who allegedly arrived at the bank, had withdrawn the entire amount and threatened bank officials who inquired about the reason for receiving the money.
