CID takes Thilini to another location from Welikada

Thico Group Chairperson Thilini Priyamali who was recently remanded over charges of financial fraud was handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today to be taken to a location for further investigations.

Prison spokesman Chandana Ekanayake said she was escorted by the prison officers under special security following a court order.

The CID had also taken out Thilini from the Welikada Prison on Tuesday where she was taken to the World Trade Centre in Colombo where her office is situated.(DSB)

I am not sympathetic towards people who commit crimes. I am not sure why the suspects are not given reasonable accommodation when they are remanded. No one guilty unless proven. People in remand should be able to stay there somewhat comfortably. Living Conditions in remand prisons are unacceptable. Most remanded prisoners will be willingly pay for reasonable accommodation facilities in the remand.

How come she is allowed to walk around as an ordinary person without handcuffs when in remand custody? Have you seen any of the aragalaya youth being treated like this? Someone big is behind the whole scandal and by our very corrupt standards, a big political hand is involved badly.
